Friends of the Rouge took two Crain's Detroit reporters on a tour of the Industrial Lower Rouge on June 8, 2016 with kayaks provided by Riverside Kayak Connection.  Reporter Dustin Walsh blogged about the experience and the river in a piece subtitled "Kayaking with Friends of the Rouge is water-level view of the most polluted ZIP code in Michigan."
