People have inhabited the Lake St. Clair region for more than 9,000 years. Native Americans, fur traders, European settlers and modern North Americans have all called this region home. Since Cadillac, the explorer, arrived by canoe in 1701, Lake St. Clair has remained a recreational attraction. The Lake St. Clair Coastal Trail is a great resource for paddlers interested in carrying on that exploration. It features historic sites, launches and landings, routes and points of interest along the Lake St. Clair coast.
