The Lower Branch of the Rouge River is protected within Wayne County Parkland from Canton to Dearborn. Paddling through this forested corridor makes it easy to forget you are in the midst of urbanity. The Smart bus line offers a convenient shuttle on nearby Michigan Avenue. The route from Commerce Court to Goudy Park has been maintained so that there are few to no portages around logjams. Join Friends of the Rouge's Facebook page Rouge Paddling to get the most current updates on the logjam opening. Goudy Park to Venoy-Dorsey Park has remaining obstacles that are being opened by a strong group of volunteers. Long term plans are to open the entire route from Canton to Dearborn.
